Easter time is here, and school holiday. Most of you are probably already away from Luxembourg and maybe in a sunny spot. But for the rest of us, who actually run out of ideas, why not a last minute thing? Just wake up in the morning, pack some belongings and get away as a family! It will be a great surprise for everyone!
Easter Holiday with kids around
Whether your kids are babies, toddlers or bigger, there’s a lot to do in and around the Grand-Duchy.
Luxembourg
Did you know that Parc Merveilleux just opened its doors for the 2013 season? This is an amusement park just east of Bettembourg in the south of Luxembourg. Not as big as other well known parks in Europe, but it has a wide range of attractions including exotic birds, forest animals in their natural habitats, a miniature railway, scenes from fairy tales and adventure playgrounds.
France
Perfect for little children, Nigoland presents itself as one of the parcs with the most attractions for kids under 1 meter. It will open its doors on 30th March, so everything is shortly ready for your visit. You also have the possibility to stay there, at the Hôtel des Pirates, with reduced entrance rates.
Disneyland in Paris is always a must, although probably crowded during the holidays. Staying in Disney Village is of course expensive, but the kids would surely be delighted to sleep surrounded by their favourite little friends.
Germany
In southern Germany, you’ll find Legoland. It contains Lego reproductions of various German cities and rural landscapes. You can also stay in the park village, in one of the themed rooms that would amaze the entire family.
Holland
A drive to Scheveningen, The Hague, would take you to Madurodam. It is a miniature park and tourist attraction, a home to a range of perfect 1:25 scale model replicas of famous Dutch spots.
Easter holidays without kids
Are your kids away for the weekend? Then instead of staying in front of the TV all day long, why not surprise your dearest one with a romantic escapade? I’m sure it will delight him/her!
Luxembourg
How about staying in a real castle? One could certainly have a beautiful romantic experience at Château d’Urspelt. Near Clervaux, this luxurious 18th century castle is fully renovated and offers beautifully decorated suites and guest rooms, and it is classified as a national monument.
Brussels
Heading to Belgium and Brussels, you can check in at the charming Be Manos Hotel. With a central location, this unique hotel offers rooms decorated with stylish design and technology.
Paris
A little secret in the heart of Paris is definitely Le A Hotel . With minimalist rooms and top details in technology, it’s still a romantic spot, just around the corner of Champs-Elysées. Just take the first train to Paris and enjoy one of the most romantic cities in Europe.

Last year we went to Nancy in France for a couple of nights and stayed in Hotel de Guise. Can highly recommend that place. The town is beautiful, has lots of interesting sightseeing and lovely restaurants and pubs. The hotel is really cute, right in the middle of town and staff speaks english! Love your tip on the Chateau d’Urspelt – the prices seems really fair. Great list Rute!
